Christian County is ranked No. 24 in the Louisville Courier-Journal girls’ preseason basketball poll released Sunday.

The Lady Colonels return three of their top five scorers from last year’s team that went 23-8, won the Eighth District title, and fell in the Second Region championship.

Christian County will play three teams ranked in the top 25. They will meet No. 3 Sacred Heart in the Queen of the Commonwealth Dec. 19 at Bullitt East. Other teams in the Queen field include No. 6 Elizabethtown, No. 12 Manual, No. 14 Anderson County, No. 17 Conner, No. 18 Christian Academy-Louisville, No. 19 Eastern, and No 22 Bowling Green.

They will play No. 22 Bowling Green Jan. 15 at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium and travel to No. 9 Owensboro Catholic Feb. 5.

Interestingly, the team that beat Christian County to win the region title, Webster County, was left out of the top 25. The Lady Trojans return two of their top three scorers and have added freshman transfer Raigan Price, who was Union County’s second-leading scorer as an eighth grader last year.

Christian County opens their season Nov. 27 against Muhlenberg County.
