It was probably the UHA Blazers worst performance of the 2017-2018 basketball season, and the Blazers will get a chance to avenge that loss this season in one of the biggest regular season tournaments in the state. It has been announced that UHA will open play in this year’s King of the Bluegrass against Lexington Christian.
The Blazers and the Eagles met in the first round of the 2018 All A Classic in Richmond. LCA controlled that game in McBrayer Arena from beginning to end, on their way to a 68-47 win. The Eagles then went on to win the All A championship.
LCA is led by big man Kyle Rode, who was signed to play at Liberty University. The game, which will also feature UHA’s KyKy Tandy, who has committed to Xavier, should be an interesting matchup to complete the first round of the tournament. The Blazers and the Eagles will square off at 9pm Thursday, December 20, at Fairdale High School. The winner and the loser of the contest will take on the winner and loser of the game between Trinity and LaRue County.
Another 2nd Region team is also playing in this year’s event. The Madisonville Maroons will take on the host Fairdale Bulldogs in the game right before the UHA-LCA contest. That game is slated for a 7:30pm start. The winner and loser of the game will take on the winner and loser of the game between Male and Collins.
The King of the Bluegrass is played December 19-December 23 at Fairdale High School.
