A classic battle of cats vs. dogs will take place at Kroger Field on Saturday for the right to represent the SEC East in this year’s SEC Championship game. The Kentucky Wildcats, Despite being ranked just two spots behind the Georgia Bulldogs, the Kentucky Wildcats will be nearly 10-point underdogs at home on Saturday.

Kentucky is coming off another history-breaking game, this time at the Missouri Tigers as the Wildcats were the first team to be ranked as well as a touchdown (or greater) underdog against a non-ranked team and win outright.

Now, sitting at 7-1 on the season (4-1 in SEC play), Kentucky will suit up for their chance at the SEC title game. The winner of Saturday’s matchup will receive more than that, though, as a win over a top-10 team this late in the season will work wonders in regards to how the victorious team is viewed by the College Football Playoff.

With Alabama’s matchup against LSU looming just after Georgia & Kentucky conclude, a win by either of the ladder could potentially elevate them into the Top-4.

For Kentucky fans, some are looking closely at how great their team can be but most are simply admiring the willpower of their Wildcats for such an improvement compared to years past. Though back-to-back bowl game appearances have raised expectations for head coach Mark Stoops and his team, it’s difficult to say many saw this coming.

A top-10 overall defense, which is tied for first in the country via scoring defense, will take the field in front of a rambunctious crowd on Saturday afternoon. Quarterback Terry Wilson, coming off his most impressive game as a Wildcat, will have full command of the reigns with already-running back legend Benny Snell Jr. behind him in the backfield.

Sophomore wide receiver Lynn Bowden, who is coming off a career breakout game, is set to once again lead the Wildcats’ in their passing attack. Senior tight end CJ Conrad, who caught last week’s game-winning TD, will be one of many veterans on the offensive staff ready to also lead Kentucky in what is expected to be a game for the ages.

60 minutes, four quarters, two halves… one game for the Big Blue Nation to aid their team in making program history. The birth to the SEC Championship game would be the program’s first ever and only fitting to follow the first eight games of the season.

The Kentucky Wildcats have not only taken their fan base by storm, but every other team in college football as well. On Saturday, they’ll have that chance once again… a chance of which they haven’t wasted yet this season.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EDT on CBS.
