Murray State senior Linette Holmslykke was named Ohio Valley Conference Female Golfer of the Week for the third time this fall as announced by the league office in Brentwood, Tennessee.
A senior from Vejle, Denmark, Holmslykke led the Racers into a level of difficulty test similar to an NCAA Regional at the Cardinal Cup at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky. Playing against a solid field of teams, the senior carded rounds of 75-73-73 to finish 12th place at 221 (+5) playing on a course that played over 6,300 yards. Her second round 72 was impressive in bad weather conditions.
Through 14 rounds this year, Holmslykke leads the OVC with a 72.6 stroke average.
Holmslykke and the Racers now wait for spring and a chance to make history with a third-straight OVC Tournament title (April 15-17) at The Shoals Golf Club – Schoolmaster Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. MSU opens the spring season at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate (Feb. 24-26) at the Osprey Point and Oak Point course at the Kiawah Island Resort.
