For the first time since 2014, a Murray State Racer has been selected as a National Player of the Week by STATS. Drew Anderson’s stellar game against Tennessee State helped earn him his fourth honor of the week, this time as the National Offensive Player of the Week. In addition, Anderson has already been named as the OVC Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week and as the Ohio Valley Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
Anderson was 33-for-51 Saturday for 348 yards and a career-high five touchdowns with just one interception. In addition, he led the Racer rushing attack with 63 yards and added another touchdown on a 19-yard keeper. The transfer completed passes to 11 different receivers in the contest and engineered four touchdown drives of 70 yards or longer. With his five touchdowns, he becomes just the eighth quarterback in MSU history to throw at least five touchdown passes in a single game joining Casey Brockman, Jeff Ehrhardt, Justin Fuente, KD Humphries, Maikhail Miller, Michael Proctor and Larry Tillman.
The Buffalo transfer is currently 126-for-217 on the season for 1,431 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He is currently averaging 238.5 yards per game with two 300-plus yard games including a career-high 397 against UT Martin.
