The first of five straight tournaments in Asia did not get off to the start Emma Talley was hoping for. The Princeton native struggled from the start and finished tied for 77th at the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship in Incheon, Korea over the weekend.
Talley’s weekend included two double-bogeys and two triple-bogeys among her eight birdies. She finished at +18, which was 34 shots behind the winner, In Gee Chun of Korea. The main culprit? The many bunkers that guarded the greens. Talley had 10 sand shots over the weekend and was able to save only five of those. She also hit just 55-percent of her greens off the tee.
The good news for Talley is there is no cut during her Asian swing which means she will play all four rounds and get a check. She earned $3,713 for the weekend and slipped from 45th to 48th on the LPGA money list with $388,121.
The Princeton native will try and bounce back this weekend at the Buick LPGA Shanghai event in China.
