Trigg County can determine their first-round playoff opponent with a win over Union County Friday at Perdue Field. Both the Wildcats and Braves are 1-2 in Class 3A, District with their wins coming over Fort Campbell, who has been eliminated from the playoffs for the second straight season.

The winner of Friday’s game will be the 3-seed, while the loser will fall to the 4-seed and will travel to Elizabethtown in the first round of the postseason. Elizabethtown clinched the No.1 seed in District 2 after their 42-14 win over LaRue County Friday.

LaRue County will likely be the No. 2 seed in District 2, but there are still several scenarios at play.

• Elizabethtown has clinched the No.1 seed in District 2 after their 42-14 win over LaRue County Friday.

• A LaRue County win over Edmonson County this week gives the Hawks a No. 2 seed and a home playoff game.

• A Hart County win over Adair County and a LaRue County win gives Hart County the No. 3 seed, and Edmonson County would be the No. 4 seed and come to Caldwell County in the first round. Adair County would be out of the playoffs.

• A three-way tie for second place is possible if Edmonson County beats LaRue County and Hart County beats Adair County. All three teams would have 2-2 records. LaRue County would be the No. 2 seed if they beat 7-win Campbellsville in the final week because of tie-breaker points. Hart County would likely be the 3- seed based on the points they get for the number of wins of the opponents they beat.

Likely, the winner of Friday’s Trigg County/Union County game will travel to Hodgenville to play LaRue County in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.
