After losing 5-1 to Hopkins County Central in the regular season, the Caldwell County Tigers pushed the Storm to the limit in the 5th District semifinals Monday night at Madisonville-North Hopkins, before falling 2-1 in the first overtime period. The Storm improve to 7-11-1 and advance to Wednesday’s title game with Madisonville, while the Tigers end their season at 2-14-1 overall.
Caldwell took the lead in the 22nd minute on a goal by Blake Vivrette off an assist from Collin Shaffer. The Storms’ Jesus Gallegos evened things up in the 33rd minute on a penalty kick, before the teams played a scoreless second half. The Storm wasted little time in overtime, scoring 44 seconds in to knock off the Tigers 2-1.
