For the fifth time in 2018, Austin Peay State University volleyball senior Kristen Stucker has been named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Setter of the Week, after leading the Governors to a pair of wins and their first 6-0 league start in program history.
Stucker, of Johnston, Iowa, earned her 19th career Setter of the Week award after pacing the Govs to a .253 team attack percentage in wins against Eastern Illinois and SIUE. The wins pushed Austin Peay to a 6-0 start as they completed a sweep of their four-match homestand.
Stucker averaged 12.57 assists per set during the week, posting 35 assists (11.67 per set) in a three-set sweep of Eastern Illinois before handing out 53 assists (13.25 per set) in a four-set win against SIUE. She moved into eighth among Division I setters with her league-leading 11.63 assists per set. Behind her performance, the Governors offense ranks sixth nationally in kills per set, with a league-leading 14.61 average.
Austin Peay, which gained sole possession of the league lead last week, will defend its spot atop the standings during a weekend swing through Nashville. The Govs first face Belmont in a 6 p.m., Friday contest at the Curb Event Center before a 2 p.m., Saturday affair at second-place Tennessee State.
