The region cross country meet is three weeks away, and runners from all three classes in Region I got a course preview Saturday at the FastCats Invitational at Owensboro’s Yellow Creek Park.
Nic Sanderson led the Colonel runners with a 146th place finish in 20:22. Ethan Dooley was 223rd, followed by Perry Cunningham (225th), Ryan Simpson (250th), K’Ron Sherald (265th), Dasean Dunham (328th), and Logan Carter (336th).
Madisonville’s Christian Parker bested 400 other runners in the race to win in a time of 15:59.
As a team, Christian County finished 32nd with 895 points.
Montgomery Bell Academy of Nashville won the boy’s team competition with 58 points. Bowling Green (154) was second, and Marshall County (169) was third.
In the girls’ race, seventh grader Jackie Goza was the first Lady Colonel across in 141st place (26:36). Another seventh grader, Daihla Price, was 167th in 27:37. They were followed by Jaynah Cady (199th), Emma Fleming (213th), Macy Bush (221st), Madison Leibe (231st), Aly Adler (238th), and Destiny McGee (244th).
Daviess County’s Karlee Hoffman took first place in a time of 19:08 over the 3.1-mile course.
As a team, Christian County finished 25th with 673 points. Daviess County won with 33 points, followed by McCracken County (93), and North Oldham (93).
Sixth grader Allen Wells was Christian County’s top runner in the boys’ middle school race with a 93rd place finish. Cori’Anna Cunningham was the first Lady Colonel across the line in the middle school race in 49th place.
