The adversity Austin Peay experienced in its opening two OVC contests might’ve portended a sense of foreboding, but by the final gun on Saturday the Govs were back in the win column thanks to five forced turnovers en route to a 49-34 victory at Fortera Stadium.
The Govs struck early and often in scoring their most points in an OVC game since 1996.
Jeremiah Oatsvall hit on 7-of-15 passing for 189 yards and a score and picked up another 76 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Kentel Williams rolled up 224 all-purpose yards (139 kick return, 74 rushing, 11 receiving) and two rushing touchdowns of his own.
The Govs (3-3, 1-2) travel to Houck Stadium next week for a pivotal road contest against Southeast Missouri.
