Trigg County freshman Hunter Reynolds hit some big shots when he needed them to shoot a 6-over 78 and make the cut Friday at the Leachman Auto/KHSAA State Golf Tournament at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Reynolds began play on the back nine of the course and parred his first five holes. He birdied No. 9 and No. 3 to stand at 2-over par after 12 holes. He then bogeyed four of the next five holes but finished with a par on No. 9 to finish the round at 6-over.
After playing the waiting game, Reynolds found out the par on the final hole allowed him to make the cut to the second round by a single shot.
Reynolds entered Saturday’s second round tied for 45th place.
