The Caldwell County Lady Tigers have locked up the #2 seed in the 7th District girls soccer tournament. The Lady Tigers picked up the #2 spot by rolling past Hopkins Central Thursday evening 5-1 at Butler Stadium. The same two teams will meet in the first round of the 7th District tournament, with the winner to play Madisonville for the championship.

Caldwell County got things rolling quickly Thursday evening, Kaylee McEnaney found the net less than two minutes into the match to put the Lady Tigers up 1-0. Caldwell County extended the lead when Laney Fletcher drilled on from out front to make it a 2-0 game at the 15:00 mark.

Just over five minutes later, Kaylee McEnaney beat the goalie and found an empty net to push the lead out to 3-0. That would be how the first half would end.

Sofie Littlefield got things going for Caldwell County early in the second half, scoring inside the first two minutes to move the lead out to 4-0. Laney Fletcher found the net for the second time of the night at the 60:00 to give the Lady Tigers a 5-0 lead.

Hopkins Central got their lone goal of the night at the 71:00 when sophomore Katelyn Cavanaugh got one past the goalie to get to the final 5-1 score.

The win improves Caldwell County to 7-10 and 1-1 in the district. Hopkins Central falls to 8-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the 7th District. Caldwell County returns to action Monday on the road at Crittenden County.
