Marshall County did something no team had done to Hopkinsville in 29 straight games – keep them off the scoreboard. The Marshals scored inside the game’s first 30 seconds and tacked on four second half goals for a 5-0 win Thursday at the Stadium of Champions.
The last team to shut out Hoptown was Warren Central on Sept. 9 of last year. Before that, it was in the 2014 state tournament loss to Bowling Green.
The Tigers had nine shots on goal but couldn’t get any into the net.
Marshall County improved to 11-3 and snapped a five-match winless streak to the Tigers.
Hopkinsville (8-4) will host Henderson County Tuesday.
