Only one change this week at the top of the YSE 2nd Region volleyball “Super 7.” However, Henderson County has closed the gap on Caldwell County at the top, as the Lady Colonels appear to be hitting their stride just in time for the home stretch of the 2018 volleyball season. Hopkinsville barely edge’s out Hopkins Central for this week’s #7 spot in the region.
– Caldwell County (10-5) – The Lady Tigers had a tough go of it at the Queen of the Court. However, they were right in the thick of it in two of their losses and could just have easily gone 3-1, instead of the 1-3 they settled for at the event.
– Henderson County (12-5) – Anyone who thought the Lady Colonels would not be in the thick of it down the stretch was not thinking correctly. Henderson has now won 8 in a row, and lost only three sets during that streak. Keep October 4th in Henderson marked on your calendar.
– UHA (10-2) – The Lady Blazers finally return to action tonight against Webster County, and then head off to Richmond for the All A State tournament this weekend. The biggest question is just how rusty the Lady Blazers will be, having not played since August 23.
– Crittenden County (13-1) – The Lady Rockets swept Trigg County and Webster County over the past week. That keeps them firmly at #4, for now. Some big ones coming up over the rest of the month for the Lady Rockets.
– Madisonville (8-6) – The Lady Maroons did what they were supposed to do in their match against Fort Campbell. So they stay right at #6 for this week.
– Christian County (7-13) – Does anybody really want to face the Lady Colonels right now in a one match, winner take all scenario. They have taken Madisonville to five sets, and they took down their 8th District rival Hopkinsville in four sets. Their record is not a good indicator of how much trouble they could be come postseason.
– Hopkinsville (3-12) – Still cannot figure this team out. Loaded with athletes, and looked to be one of the regional darkhorses at the beginning of the season. That belief is likely the only reason they stay ahead of Hopkins Centra for now. The Lady Storm are closing the gap quickly.
