Henderson County and Hopkinsville remain in the top two spots of the YSE Boys’ Soccer Super 7, but Madisonville jumps to third after an impressive showing over the weekend in Bowling Green.

1) Henderson County (6-0-1, Maher #11 ) – The Colonels have not played since an Aug. 30 win over Ohio County. Henderson dropped from eighth to 11th in the statewide Maher computer rankings. They are slated to play both Madisonville and Christian County next week.

2) Hopkinsville (4-2, Maher #20) – Hoptown’s two losses have come two teams ranked ahead of them in the Maher rankings – No. 6 Daviess County and No. 18 South Warren. After a matchup with cross-town rival Christian County, the Tigers will play in their annual Boots and Butts Classic this weekend.

3) Madisonville (7-3-1, Maher #45) – The Maroons jumped 18 spots in the Maher rankings after a weekend that saw them beat No. 69 John Hardin 4-0 and No. 68 Lexington Christian 3-0. Despite a bobble in a 2-1 loss to No. 31 Owensboro Tuesday, the Maroons have earned their leapfrog into third place.

4) University Heights (5-1, Maher #106) – The Blazer haven’t played since their Aug. 25 loss to Murray in the All-A sectional. As a result, they fell five spots in the Maher rankings. They return to action Thursday against Webster County, the No. 5 team in the YSE Super 7.

5) Webster County (4-3, Maher #102) – The Trojans have losses against the top three teams in the YSE Super 7. They rebounded from the losses with a 4-0 win over Trigg County. They will play at UHA Thursday, looking to add to their resume and jump the Blazers in the Super 7.

6) Trigg County (4-1, Maher #132) – The Wildcats made a modest four spot jump in the Maher Rankings despite their 4-0 loss to Webster County last week. If Trigg County wants to continue their rise up the Maher rankings, they are going to have to string together several wins since they don’t play another Super 7 team until Sept. 27 (UHA).

7) Christian County (4-4, Maher #140) – The Colonels also made a four-spot jump in the Maher Rankings but losses to Trigg County (#132) and Paducah Tilghman (#117), won’t help their cause. The Colonels play cross-town rival Hopkinsville Thursday ahead of the weekend’s appearance in the Boots and Butts Classic where a couple of wins will help their ranking.
