Lady Falcons Outlast Todd Central for Second Win

Fort Campbell doesn’t mind taking the long path to getting a victory. For the second time in three matches, the Lady Falcons went five sets and came home with a win. The latest victory was Tuesday in Elkton against Todd County Central.

Todd County took the first set 25-18 before Todd County won the next two 25-21 and 25-23. Fort Campbell forced a deciding set with a 27-25 win to even the match at 2-2. The Lady Falcons held off Todd 15-9 in the fifth set to claim the match.

The Lady Rebels used strong serving by Kinley Reding and Lucy Chester to take the first set. Fort Campbell took the early lead in the second set to even the match at 1-1.

Fort Campbell jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set and held off the Lady Rebels several times as they tried to get inside of two points. Chandler Burgoyne served seven straight points for the Lady Falcons and had 10 for the set.

The Lady Falcons were two points away from claiming the match with a 23-22 lead before Todd rallied to take the set 27-25.

Todd County took a 6-4 lead in the fifth set and led 7-6 before the Lady Falcons ran off eight straight points with freshman Dazsha Mailos serving to grab the 14-7 lead and win 15-9.

Fort Campbell (2-8) will travel to Hopkinsville for a rare Wednesday matchup at Tiger Gym.

Todd County Central (2-9) will play at 13th District rival Russellville Thursday.
