A late goal by Assumption gave the Horsemen a 4-3 soccer win over Heritage Christian Academy Saturday in Louisville.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first 15 minutes of the match, Thomas West got HCA on the board when he poked in a shot misplayed by the Assumption goalie.
After Assumption took a 3-1 lead, West answered with his second goal of the game right before the half to pull the Warriors to within 3-2.
West completed his hat trick and tied the game at 3-3 with a penalty kick early in the second half.
The match appeared to be headed to a tie until Assumption scored with less than two minutes remaining for the final 4-3.
“We didn’t pass well, and we didn’t move the ball well,” Warrior Coach Tony Henson said. “We were a different team in the second half, but we got beat in a last second mistake. We really have to get better by playing a full 80 minutes without making simple mistakes.”
Heritage Christian Academy (2-3) fell to 0-2 in KCAA play and will try for their first conference win Friday when they host North Hardin Christian Friday.
