The Christian County Colonels saw their three game winning streak come to an end Thursday night. After a scoreless first half, Paducah Tilghman did enough in the second half to pull out the 3-1 win at the Stadium of Champions.
The match was a physical one throughout, with neither team able to find the goal in the first half of play. The Blue Tornado broke the ice in the first ten minutes of the second half to take a 1-0 lead.
Christian County struck back about midway through the second half. It was Elber Macario at the 55:10 mark to tie the game at 1-1. Just about the time that it seemed like the Colonels had control of the match, back came Tilghman.
The Blue Tornado took the lead for good on a goal by Jaylen Jernigan at 63:30. Tilghman added insurance at the 77:00 mark on a goal by Morgan Mayo. Mayo was then given a red card after the goal when the two team exchanged “pleasantries” after the score.
Christian County tried to pick up the pace and pull out a couple of last minute goals but could not find the net in the final few minutes.
The Colonels drop to 4-3 with the loss, while Paducah Tilghman improves to 3-3.
