The Caldwell County Lady Tigers volleyball team was pretty good last season. In fact, the Lady Tigers reached the 2nd Region championship match before falling to Henderson County. The Lady Tigers are beginning to look like they might be even better this season.
Caldwell County hit the road Thursday night to Christian Fellowship and quickly dispatched the host Lady Eagles in straight sets for their 4th consecutive win, and their 5th in their last six games.
The Lady Tigers got off to a fast start, taking the first set by a score of 25-18.
Christian Fellowship made a battle out of it in the second set, before the Lady Tigers pulled out to the 25-21 win.
In the third set, Caldwell County had its most dominant effort of the night, coming away with a 25-14 win to close out the match.
Lady Tiger head coach Daniel Cortner stated the win was a good one for his team, especially going into a long holiday weekend. Caldwell County will not return to action until September 7th at Central Hardin, where they will take part in the Queens of the Court. Caldwell County will be in the same pool with John Hardin, #23 Christian Academy of Louisville, and #22 Apollo.
Lady Tiger Savanana Tays reached a career milestone during Thursday night’s match. Tays reached 1,000 set assists for her career.
With the win, Caldwell County improves to 9-2 on the season. Their only losses have come to perennial power Louisville Holy Cross, and to South Warren, who reached the final four of the 2017 state tournament.
