While many have said that a tie is like “kissing your sister”, for the Ballard Memorial Bombers Thursday night a tie ended a long losing streak on the soccer pitch. The Bombers got a goal in the game’s final ten minutes which enabled the Bombers to pull out a tie with the Lyon County Lyons in LaCenter.

Lyon County got the early 1-0 lead on a goal by Travis Crayne.

The Bombers came back late in the first half to tie the game on a goal by Dallas Butrum. The two teams would head to the break tied at 1-1.

In the second half, Crayne would score again for the Lyons, this time at the 56 minute mark, to put Lyon County back in front 2-1.

However, back again came the Bombers and Dallas Butrum. Butrum scored at the 70 minute mark to tie the game at 2-2. Neither of the teams could find the goal after that and the game ended knotted up at 2-2.

Lyon County coach Derek McCuiston noted his team controlled the action throughout the match, but could not get the ball in the net enough to come away with the win.

Lyon County is now 1-3-1. Ballard Memorial is now 0-8-1. The tie ended a 27 game losing streak for the Bombers. The last time Ballard did not lose a match was September 29, 2016, when they tied University Heights.
