The Caldwell County Lady Tigers have now firmly established themselves as the favorites to win the 7th District volleyball championship again this season. The Lady Tigers went to Mortons Gap Tuesday evening and came away with a straight set win over the Hopkins Central Lady Storm.
Caldwell County opened quickly, winning the first set 25-8, The Lady Tigers continued their roll in the second set, winning by a score of 25-12. Caldwell County then completed the sweep with a 25-14 win in the 3rd set.
Several Lady Tigers had outstanding performances in the match. Sheadon Allen had 14 kills and 4 service aces. Abby Griggs has 13 kills in the match. Olivia Mitchell stepped up with 12 kills and an ace. Kendyll Prowell had 17 set assists, 5 digs, and one ace.
Lady Tiger head coach Daniel Cortner said his team came out determined to control the speed and power of the match.
The Lady Tigers improve to 8-2 on the season, and will travel to Christian Fellowship on Thursday.
