The Henderson County Lady Colonels open in the top spot in the first YSE Girls’ Soccer Super 7, but UHA and Madisonville-North Hopkins appear capable of challenging the Lady Colonels.

1. Henderson County (3-0-1) -Senior forward Maddie Griggs and the defending 2nd Region champions are off to another good start, picking up two mercy rule wins over Trigg County and Caldwell County.  The Lady Colonels were undefeated in region play last season, but UHA will hope to change that this season.

2. University Heights Academy (2-0) -The Lady Blazers are off to a 2-0 start, including a 10-1 victory over Fort Campbell in the All-A regional tournament.  UHA will face off with Lyon County on Thursday night in the All-A regional title game.  The Lady Blazers will have to wait until September 20 for a shot at Henderson County.

3. Madisonville-North Hopkins (3-0) -Madisonville is off to a flying start this season, notching two mercy-rule wins among its three vidtories.  The Lady Maroons have a big 7th District meeting with Hopkins County Central scheduled for Thursday night.

4. Hopkins County Central (3-0) -The Lady Storm have started the season with three wins against 2nd Region competition, shutting out Crittenden and Webster and topping Fort Campbell 5-2.  We’ll find out how good the Lady Storm are when they go on the road to face Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday night.

5. Hopkinsville (2-2) -The Lady Tigers have had a mixed start to the season, taking their opener 4-2 over Trigg County while playing without three starters, including forward Ana Hernandez, but dropping matches with South Warren and Apollo.  Hoptown will have a chance to announce themselves as contenders in early September with back-to-back matches against Henderson County and UHA.

6. Trigg County (2-3) -Trigg County endured a difficult start to the season, going 0-3 over the first week while playing a brutal run of Hopkinsville, Henderson County and Calloway County.  The Lady Wildcats have righted the ship since, shutting out Crittenden County and knocking off Union County.  They face an important stretch against 2nd Region competition with games against Caldwell, Lyon and Fort Campbell over the next seven days.

7. Fort Campbell (1-2) -The Lady Falcons are here on the strength of a 5-1 win over Lyon County, although they’ve fallen short when they’ve faced teams from the top of the region.  Fort Campbell will have an opportunity to improve its resume with a trip to Trigg County on August 30 and a visit from Madisonville-North Hopkins a week later.
