Christian County could not overcome a pair of early penalty kicks at Graves County and lost to the Eagles 6-2 Thursday in Mayfield.
The penalty kicks, which came during a five-minute stretch of the first half, gave the Eagles a quick 2-0 lead. Christian County answered when Benito Rubio found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1, a score that would stand at halftime.
Graves County would squash any thoughts of a Colonel comeback with three goals to start the second half and gain a 5-1 advantage.
Emmanuel Ixcol scored six minutes left to make the score 5-2 before Ricardo Morales tallied the final goal of the game for the Eagles.
Christian County (1-2) will return home Saturday to host Owensboro Catholic at 11am at the Stadium of Champions.
