Two area golf courses are expected to be closed for around a month due to damage to the courses. According to an announcement made Wednesday by the Kentucky Department of Parks, the 18-hole courses at Mineral Mounds State Park, near Eddyville, and Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, near Dawson Springs, will be closed for about four weeks starting August 20.
The greens will be re-seeded and the courses are expected to re-open later this year. The re-seeding is needed due to damage caused to the greens by weather conditions. Parks officials point out that other golf courses in the region have had similar issues because of weather.
