The Todd County Central boys’ soccer team struggled to a 1-16 record in 2017, managing 12 goals while conceding 105. The Rebels’ season came to an end with a 10-0 loss to Franklin-Simpson in the first round of the 13th District tournament.
The Rebels are looking for a fresh start in 2018, starting with new coach Colby Bicksler. Bicksler, a former goalkeeper from 2009-12 for the Rebels, takes over for Elizabeth Bailey, who coached two seasons in Elkton. His first task is to fill holes left by the departure of six seniors.
The Rebels are short on upperclassmen, but two seniors Bicksler will count on are defender Chase Lancaster and attacker TJ Kline. Sophomore midfielders Troy Stubbs and Mason Chavez will operate on the wings, with freshman Blake West working in the middle of the field. Freshman Tanner Farmer takes over in the goal, joined in the starting lineup by freshmen Luis Herrera and defender Mikey Evertt.
Todd County opened the season on Monday with a 5-0 loss to visiting Hopkins County Central. They hit the road on Tuesday for a meeting with the Owensboro Catholic Aces.
