A tough start to the new soccer season for the Caldwell County Tigers Tuesday night. Webster County came into Butler Stadium and scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the contest, on their way to a 9-1 win in the season opener for both teams.
The Trojans then scored two more goals in the final ten minutes of the half to extend their lead to 5-0 at the half.
Caldwell County’s lone goal came at the 50 minute mark, as Andrew Risley’s goal cut the Webster County lead to 5-1. However, the Trojans scored four unanswered to close out the contest and pick up the eight goal win.
Caldwell County (0-1) returns to action Thursday on the road at Paducah Tilghman. Webster County (2-0), who has outscored Caldwell County and Lyon County 18-3 on back-to-back nights, travels to Hopkins Central on Thursday.
Webster County also picked up the win in the JV contest Tuesday evening by the score of 11-3.
