Christian County appeared poised to win their volleyball season opener at Franklin-Simpson Friday, but a big rally by the Wildcats gave the home team a five-set win. The Lady Colonels won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-21.
Franklin-Simpson rallied to win the third set 25-20 and held off the Lady Colonels 27-25 in the fourth set. The Lady Wildcats won the decided set 15-13. Christian County went 3-0 in five-set matches last year and saw their streak of five consecutive five-set wins come to an end against last year’s 13th District runner-ups.
Christian County will play at Eighth District rival University Heights Thursday.
