Lyon County Post 68 suffered their first loss in the American Legion Southeast Regional Baseball Tournament Friday with an 8-3 setback to Randolph (NC) Post 45.
For the first time in the tournament, the Post 68 Aces fell behind early. Randolph Post 45 scored twice in the first inning and added three more runs in the second on a solo home and two-run double.
A passed ball in the second inning plated Lyon County’s first run of the game. Randolph added two more runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-1 lead. Gabe Board’s RBI single and Noah Brown’s sacrifice fly accounted for the rest of Lyon County’s scoring.
Post 68 falls into the consolation bracket where they will play Troy (AL) Post 70 at 4:30 Saturday. Lyon County needs a win to stay alive in the tournament, being played in Asheboro, NC.
