University Heights Academy took first place in their flight at the Bluegrass State Volleyball Games in Lexington over the weekend. UHA beat Christian County 21-19, 21-17 in the championship match.
The win capped off a 5-3 weekend for the Lady Blazers, who beat Montgomery County 21-15, 21-9 in the semifinals. UHA beat John Hardin in three sets in their opening match of the flight championship bracket.
On Friday, UHA lost to Butler (21-2, 21-8) and to Highlands (21-13, 21-10).
UHA went 2-1 in pool play Saturday. The Lady Blazers beat Marion County (21-19, 21-16) and Williamstown (21-13, 21-11) before falling to Warren East 21-10, 21-12.
UHA opens their season Monday at home against Trigg County.
