Early 2019 commit DJ Jeffries took to Twitter to de-commit from the Kentucky Wildcats and re-open his recruitment.
After careful consideration prayer and countless hours of consulting with my family I decided to reopen recruitment it was a hard decision but I am confident that taking my time to choose the right school for me to better myself educationally and athletically is the right choice pic.twitter.com/Pqc4QlVqfd

Jeffries is the 37th-ranked player in the 2019 class, per 247Sports.com. He is the 10th ranked small forward and the top-overall player in the state of Mississippi.
His commitment to Kentucky came back on March 12th of this past spring. Jeffries was the first commitment for head coach John Calipari in the 2019 class, just before Tyrese Maxey committed in early May.
However, four and a half months later, Jeffries has decided to reconsider his options.
This move means more to Kentucky than just losing Jeffries, as they are in the running with the Memphis Tigers for top-prospect James Wiseman.
The Tigers recently fired former Kentucky coach Tubby Smith and brought in former NBA All-Star Penny Hardaway. Jeffries reportedly wasn’t phased by the hiring of Hardaway and instead wanted to “lure” Wiseman to Kentucky.
However, with Jeffries no longer committing to the Big Blue Nation, fans should be fearful that Wiseman may not end up in a Kentucky uniform.
