Another good summer tournament over the weekend for the defending Girls 2nd Region tennis champion. Caldwell County’s Belle Englebright was in Georgia for the Georgia State Junior Open. The tournament is a part of the Tennis Recruiting National Showcase Series and a Georgia level 2 event, with over 500 players competing.
Englebright earned the #6 seed in her bracket, and came away with 4 wins & 2 losses over the course of the tournament. Englebright defeated Olivia Drake from Kennesaw, Georgia 6-1 6-3. Englebright was then taken out of the main draw by Sydney Whitfield of Charlotte, North Carolina, 6-0 6-0.
Englebright then defeated Ella Gardner of Nashville, 6-0 6-0, and Emma Strickland of Atlanta, 6-1 7-5. On day 3, Englebright had worked her way up to the consolation bracket quarterfinals and defeated Daniella Clayborn of Alpharetta, Georgia, 6-0 6-2, before losing in the consolation semifinals to the #5 seed Emma McHale of Mabelton, Georgia 6-4 6-0.
