Christian County’s Hannah Sumner played quick enough Monday to beat the thunderstorms and finished second in the 16-18 Division at the GO Series stop at Lakeshore Country Club in Madisonville. Sumner tied Kally Priest of Henderson with an identical score of 100 but lost in a scorecard tiebreaker.
Golfers braved temperatures in the mid-90s although some were caught in a popup thunderstorm with just a few holes left. One of those was Bridget Owens, who was teamed with Morgan Seibert, and finished third with a score of 104 despite playing the final two holes in a downpour.
Cate Blane of Hopkinsville won the Girls 11-12 Division with a score of 41, five shots ahead of second place Conlee Lindsey. Anna Fort finished fourth with a 55, and Abby-Grace Forbes was fifth with a 58.
Hopkinsville’s Allie Sandifer won the Girls 8 Under 3-Hole Division with a score of 13. Campbell Lindsey was fourth with an 18.
Anna Blane took second in the Girls 13-15 Division with a score of 47 over nine holes. Rheagan Lindsey was third with a 52, and Audrey Rains was fifth with a 56.
For the guys, Haydon Reynolds of Cadiz finished fifth with a score of 46 over nine holes in the 11-12 Division.
Elijah Forbes of Russellville and Micah Smith of Hopkinsville finished tied after 18 holes with a score of 83. Forbes won on a scorecard tiebreaker. The golfers saw their round interrupted for nearly an hour due to a thunderstorm.
Hopkinsville’s Evan Pyle won the 13-15 Division with a score of 52. Calvin Demps was fourth with a score of 59.
