Prospects Roll Through Pool Play at Nationals

A perfect start to the weekend for three area high school baseball players and their Kentucky Prospects team. The Prospects picked up a trio of wins in pool play at the WWBA 17U National Championship.

In their opening game Friday, the Prospects scored three runs in the bottom of the 5th to edge out Maryland Monarch 4-3. UHA’s Drew McGowan was 0-2 with a run scored. Christian County’s Lane Diuguid went 0-2 with a walk and an RBI. Trigg County’s Riley Stallons was 0-2 with a walk.

In the second game Friday, the Prospects cruised by Mizuno Baseball 8-2. McGowan was 1-3 with a run scored. Diuguid went 1-3. Stallons did not play in the contest.

Saturday, the Prospects wrapped up pool play with a 7-3 win over Team Elite Select 17U. The Prospects plated four runs in the top of the 7th inning to break open a 3-3 tie. McGowan was 1-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Riley Stallons was 0-4 in the contest. Lane Diuguid did not play in the Saturday game.
