During Christian County’s run to the Eighth District basketball title and trip to the Second Region championship game in 2017-18, some felt Aaliyah Hampton was the straw that stirred the Lady Colonels’ drink.
Hampton averaged 13.9 points and five rebounds while shooting 50-percent from the field and ranking among the team leaders in steals and assists. Her play on the court got Hampton an invite to play with the Kentucky Junior All-Stars earlier in the month as they played their Indiana counterparts and scrimmaged against the senior all-stars.
With the loss of two starters from last year’s team, Hampton will be expected to take on a larger leadership role as well as a scoring role for the Lady Colonels in 2018-19 — which is a role she embraces.
