The girls’ athletic programs at Hopkins County Central, Christian County, and Trigg County showed the largest increase in wins from 2018 to 2017 across their four main team sports. Hopkins Central saw an increase from 35 wins in the four major team sports – volleyball, soccer, basketball, and softball — in the 2016-17 school year to 56 this year. The 21-win increase was the highest of any team in the Second Region. The Lady Storm increased their win total in all four sports, helped most by a 9-win increase in volleyball.

Christian County’s win total jumped from 68 last year to 83 this year – the most wins of any school in the region. 12 of the 15 wins in the increase came from softball and basketball.

Trigg County totaled 60 wins across the four sports – the most since the school added volleyball and soccer in 2000.  Seven of the 11 win-increase came from the softball team that set a new school record with 22 wins. The 60 wins was fifth most in the region.

Webster County had the third most wins among girls’ programs in the region with 69. The Lady Trojans increased wins in all sports but softball.

Henderson County totaled 64 wins to rank fourth but had the third-largest drop in the region. Henderson’s girls’ teams won 85 games last year, including region titles in the three of the four sports.

University Heights Academy went from 72 wins in 2016-17 to 39 wins this year. Only the soccer team matched their win total from a year ago.

Madisonville dropped 30 wins from their total two years ago, which was inflated thanks to a state championship run by their softball team. The Lady Maroons won 22 fewer softball games this year. Madisonville’s 89 wins two years ago were the most in the region. They dropped to sixth this year.

Caldwell County’s 75 wins were the second-most in the region, and they joined Hopkins County Central as the only teams in the region to achieve double-digit wins in all four sports. Their win total was identical to two years ago.
