Jarred Vanderbilt was the third Kentucky Wildcat to go in Thursday night’s NBA Draft. Vanderbilt was selected 41st overall by the Orlando Magic. However, following the selection, he was then traded to the Denver Nuggets.
Details on the trade have yet to be released.
It was an injury-riddled season for Vanderbilt, but when he saw the court he posted 5.9 points and 7.9 rebounds.
He’ll join both Jamal Murray and Trey Lyles in Denver.
Looking at the Nuggets’ depth chart, Vanderbilt comes in to an already crowded front court. Denver will likely have Kenneth Faried, Mason Plumlee, Michael Porter Jr. Nikola Jokic, Paul Millsap, Wilson Chandler and Lyles on the roster for next season.
However, with the Nuggets expected to move on from Faried, Vanderbilt should most likely ease his way in to the rotation and take over the “energy role” Faried had.
