Kevin Knox was the first Kentucky Wildcat to go in Thursday night’s NBA Draft. Knox was selected ninth overall overall by the New York Knicks. The freshman forward averaged 15.6 points and 5.4 rebounds in 37 games for the Kentucky Wildcats.
Knox was regarded as the team’s best freshman coming in to a team with very little roster turnover. In fact, it was the youngest team John Calipari had ever coached at Kentucky.
Knox was given the rock and handled it well, taking the number one scoring option as a gift more than a chore. He often led the Wildcats in scoring and was able to get a basket when needed most.
Looking at the Knicks depth chart, Knox should immediately shoulder an offensive workload on the wing. His outside shooting and creativity off the dribble should bode nicely alongside Kristaps Porzingis.
