6-20-remy

Losers of three straight, the Hoptown Hoppers traveled to Muhlenberg County in seek of ending their skid with a win over the Stallions.  Luckily, the Hoppers took control early to defeat the Stallions 6-3.

For the third straight game, Hoptown struck first when Cole Cummings put the first run on the board.

Muhlenberg did answer, however, with a run of their own in the first inning.

The tie didn’t last long though, as Hoptown’s Blake Jackson went to work in the third. Jackson’s single drove in Cummings for his second run of the game. In the next at-bat, Aidan Elias drove in Max Remy to extend the Hopper lead, 3-1.

Hoptown kept momentum in the fourth, as Remy drove in both Davis Keller and John Keane.

Jackson put the barrel to the ball once more, slapping a single that scored Remy.

Leading 6-1, Hoptown gave up a run in the seventh and the eighth as they cruised to the finish line.

Starting pitcher Brian Coffey earned his fourth win of the season, going eight innings to fan seven while allowing just six hits and three runs.

Taking the loss for the Stallions was Cole Lyons (4.2 innings, seven hits, six runs, two strikeouts).

Jackson continued his stellar season for the Hoppers, going 3-4 at the plate for three singles, two RBI while also drawing a walk.

Cummings also had a quality night, going 3-5 for two singles, a double and two runs.

The Hoppers (10-6) return to Hopkinsville to prepare for Thursday’s home game against the Owensboro Riverdawgs (12-5), their first at Colonel Field in almost a week.

First pitch is set for 7 P.M.
