Whoever finally comes out of the 2nd Region softball tournament will face a familiar foe in the opening round of the state softball tournament Thursday evening. Marshall County won the 1st Region championship Thursday evening, edging out the Cinderella team of the post season, Ballard Memorial 5-4.
All four of the remaining teams in the 2nd Region have faced the Lady Marshals at some point during the 2018 season.
Christian County and Marshall County squared off early in the season at Christian County. The Lady Colonels won in walkoff fashion by the score of 4-3 on March 27.
Madisonville faced the Lady Marshals on May 4th. The Lady Maroons dropped a 9-4 decision on their home field.
Caldwell County and Marshall County locked up in a tight pitchers duel on May 3. The Lady Marshals came away with the 1-0 win.
And, Crittenden County squared off against the Lady Marshals in Draffenville on March 30. Marshall County won a slugfest by the score of 9-6.
The winner of the 2nd Region will take on Marshall County Thursday, at 7:00pm, at Jack Fisher Park, in Owensboro.
