Kentucky forward P.J. Washington announced via his Twitter handle that he will remove his name from the NBA Draft and return to the Bluegrass for another season.

You can watch his announcement video here.

After testing the waters of the NBA Draft, he will return to Kentucky to compete for the school’s ninth National Title.

There was talk that Washington would remain in the draft if he had received a first round promise. However, despite posting solid numbers at the NBA Combine, it looks like that wasn’t the case.

Washington averaged 10.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in 37 starts for the Wildcats.

The forward scored 18 points and 15 rebounds in Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament loss to Kansas State two months ago.

His return means depth for Kentucky’s front line, something they haven’t had since their “platoon” team in 2014. He may stand just 6’7 tall, but his intensity was unmatched throughout his freshman season.

Kentucky still awaits the announcements of Jarred Vanderbilt and Wenyen Gabriel, both of which are due by midnight tonight.
