The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers had no answers for a hot hitting Crittenden County team Monday afternoon. The Lady Rockets racked up 11 hits while holding the Lady Tigers to just two, as Crittenden County rolled to a 14-0 five inning win the first round of the 2nd Region softball tournament at Hopkins Central.
Crittenden County scored in only two innings but that was more than enough to pick up the win. The Lady Rockets tallied five runs in the first and then added nine more in the bottom of the 4th inning to cruise to their 8th win in their last nine games.
In addition to hitting troubles, Hopkinsville had trouble in the field, committing six errors in four innings of defensive play.
Taiya Straight and Shaniyah Straight had the only two hits in the game for Hopkinsville.
In the circle, Marley Hancock went the distance for the Lady Tigers, giving up 14 runs, only nine of them earned, on 11 hits.
Crittenden County advances to the regional semifinals to take on Caldwell County.
