Hopkinsville tennis player Newcomb Maddux saw his high school career comes to an end Thursday. The Hopkinsville senior finished up in the first round of the boys state tennis tournament at Top Seed Tennis Club, just outside of Lexington.
Maddux was matched up in the first round against Cameron Strause. The Louisville Trinity senior opened strong in the match and never let up on his way to the 6-0, 6-0 win.
Maddux had qualified for the state tournament after a strong run to the 2nd Region tennis semifinals earlier in the month.
