With the high school baseball season winding down, teams are preparing for district and region play which begins over the next two weeks. While it’s not likely, there could be a scenario where a team in the YSE Super 7 fails to make the Second Region Tournament
1) Caldwell County (21-6) – The Tigers are 15-2 against region competition with the two setbacks to Madisonville and Union County. Caldwell has won four of five games and will be the No. 1 seed in the Seventh District Tournament next week at Dawson Springs.
2) Henderson County (19-9) – The Colonels have scored double-digit runs in 12 games this year and feature the most potent offense in the region. Their two region losses were to Caldwell County and Christian County where they scored a combined three runs. Henderson is the No. 1 seed in the Sixth District Tournament and have already punched their ticket to the Second Region Tournament.
3) Christian County (15-12) – The southern Colonels have battled injuries and inconsistency all season but may have overcome both in winning six of their last eight games. Christian County will be the No. 1 seed in the Eighth District Tournament at Hopkinsville High next week.
4) Livingston Central (15-6) – The Cardinals have won four straight games since a home loss to Trigg County May 7. When their bats get going, they are a tough team to beat. Livingston won a coin toss with Trigg and will be the No. 1 seed in the Fifth District Tournament next week at Crittenden County.
5) Trigg County (15-11) – Mistakes at the wrong times cost the Wildcats in losses to Caldwell County and Christian County. Trigg did hand Madisonville a 6-1 loss on Saturday. The Wildcats will be the No. 2 seed in the Fifth District Tournament next week and will have a tough opener with Lyon County.
6) Union County (15-19) – The Braves have gotten hot at the right time, winning four straight including a doubleheader seep of Madisonville. Union County will be the No. 2 seed in the Sixth District Tournament next week and will play host Webster County, a team they beat 12-3 and 4-3 during the regular season.
7) Madisonville (16-14) – The Maroons are slumping at the wrong time with losses in six of their last seven games. Madisonville will be the No. 2 seed in the Seventh District Tournament and will play Dawson Springs, a team they beat twice by a combined score of 24-8.
