Lyons Use Big 6th Inning to Rout Dawson Springs

The Lyon County Lyons used a big 6th inning to pull away from Dawson Springs and pick up the 12-1 win. The Panthers actually scored the first run of the game, but the Lyons responded by scoring 12 unanswered for their second straight win over a team from the 7th District.

The Panthers took the early 1-0 lead, taking advantage of a Lyon County error in the bottom of the 1st inning.

The Panthers held the lead until the top of the 3rd inning when Gunnar Bingham connected for an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. Lyon County took the lead for good in the top of the 4th inning on a single by Brady Darnell.

With the Lyons up 2-1, they added three runs in the top of the 5th inning to make it a 5-1 game. The big hit in the inning was an RBI double from Gabe Board. The Lyons then erupted for 7 runs in the top of the 6th inning to put the game away. Christian O’Daniel came up big in the inning with a three run double.

Christian O’Daniel was 2-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Jake Klueppel was 2-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Gunnar Bingham was 2-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Christian Whalin went the distance on the mound for the Lyons, giving up 1 run on five hits, striking out three and walking none.
