With three players unavailable, the Caldwell County Tigers had trouble getting their bats going Saturday afternoon. After taking an early one run read, the Tigers ended up falling to Muhlenberg County 5-1 in a game at the VFW Ballpark.
The Tigers got on the board early in the game. Noah Brown led off the bottom of the first with a walk. That was followed by a single from Gabe East. Caldwell County scored a run when Jase Felker grounded into a fielder’s choice to put the Tigers in front 1-0.
Muhlenberg County rebounded with three runs in the top of the 4th inning. The Mustangs used three singles and two walks to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead. Muhlenberg County then added two more runs in the top of the 5th inning to extend the lead to 5-1.
Meanwhile, Mustang pitching took over the game, not allowing the Tigers to mount a serious threat after the bottom of the first inning.
Jase Felker was 1-3 on the afternoon and drove in the only Caldwell County run. Noah Brown, Gabe East, Tate VanHooser, and Bryar Riley all went 1-3 for the Tigers.
Noah Brown took the loss for the Tigers, going four innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on six hits, striking out two and walking five.
