Todd County Central senior Tatyana Peterson broke onto the track and field team as an eighth grader by finishing in the top five at the Class 1A State Track Meet. She has followed that success into two more top 10 finishes at state and Wednesday, a scholarship to Midway University.
Peterson will be looking to qualify for her fifth consecutive state meet in the sprint events Friday at the Class A Region 2 Meet at Green County High School.
Her best finish at the state meet in the 100-meter dash was a fourth place finish as a freshman. Peterson also runs the 200-meter dash where her best finish at state was third place as a sophomore. She has also run on several spring relay teams in her career.
Last year, Peterson transferred to Russellville and finished eighth in the 100-meters and 12th in the 200-meters. She returned to Todd County Central in the fall where she also played on the Lady Rebel basketball team.
Midway University is an NAIA school in Midway, Kentucky that competes in the River States Conference.
