Tyler Shemwell Drives in 7 as Lady Colonels Blast Union 16-0

The Christian County Lady Colonels continue to position themselves as the team to beat in the 2nd Region. The Lady Colonels picked up their 11th win in a row Friday night as they went on the road and hammered the Union County Bravettes 16-0 in a five inning contest.

Union County kept things close for the first couple of innings, limiting the Lady Colonels to one run in the first inning. That run scored when Emmy Blane hit a solo home run to right field to put Christian County up 1-0.

The Lady Colonels got the bats going in force in the third inning, scoring five runs to take a 6-0 lead. Tyler Shemwell had a three run homer in the inning. Reni Shemwell added an RBI double and the later scored on a Union County error.

Christian County got right back to work in the top of the 4th inning, scoring six more runs to extend the lead to 12-0. Tyler Shemwell again had another big hit, scoring two runs on a single to left field. Reni Shemwell, Regan Hancock, and Halle Hendricks all added RBI singles during the inning.

The Lady Colonels finished the Bravettes off in the 5th inning, scoring four more runs. Tyler Shemwell drove in two runs with her second home run of the game. Reni Shemwell also hit a two run shot in the inning.

For the game, Tyler Shemwell had a monster night, going 3-4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs. Reni Shemwell was 3-4 with a home run and 4 RBIs.

Regan Hancock went the distance in the circle for Christian County, giving up no runs on three hits, striking out five and walking none.
