The Todd County Central softball team waged a back-and-forth battle at Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday, outscoring the Lady Wildcats 3-2 in the final frame to claim a 9-8 win in ten innings.  The Lady Rebels second win of the season over Franklin-Simpson stops a two-game, losing skid and improves their record to 7-8 overall.  The Lady Wildcats drop their sixth-straight to fall to 10-19.

Both teams posted 3 runs in the third, with Whitney Higgins singling to bring-in Jordon Weathers and Michaela Robertson for the Lady Rebels.  After Franklin-Simpson tied it on a 2-run home run by Danielle Coats, Todd County once again took the lead with 2 runs in the top of the fourth on an RBI triple by Emma Harris.

The Lady Wildcats took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the inning, squeezing 4 runs out of two hits for a two-run margin at 6-4.  In the top of the sixth, the Lady Rebels capitalized on two errors to tie the game at 6.

Neither team would score again until the top of the tenth, when a Robertson double brought-in Weathers and Addye Sawyers.  Harris grounded into a fielder’s choice that allowed Robertson to cross for a 9-6 score.

The Lady Wildcats threatened with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning, but Todd County threw-out a runner at third base and pitcher Haylee Vass coaxed two ground-outs to finish the game.

Vass worked 5.0 innings for the win, allowing 6 runs, 4 earned, on ten hits and issuing one walk.  Maddie Williams pitched the other 5.0 frames for the Lady Rebels, yielding 1 run on six hits with a couple of walks.

Robertson and Weathers both had three hits, with Robertson driving-in 2 and scoring 4 times and Weathers crossing the plate 3 times.  Harris had a couple of hits and knocked-in 3, followed by Higgins with a hit and 2 RBI.  Rachael Bilyeu and Paige Rager each had a hit.

Madison Davis took the loss for Franklin-Simpson, going 8.0 innings and surrendering 8 runs, 6 earned, on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks.  Coats was 2-2 with 2 RBI and Gracie Arnemann had three hits and drove-in 2.

Todd County travels to Bowling Green on Thursday for its first meeting of the season with the 5-11 Lady Purples.
