It will be an all Caldwell County final in the girls singles at the 2nd Region tennis tournament. The matchup between Belle Englebright and Maddie Morgan was set up following play Tuesday evening on the Water Street Courts in Henderson.
Morgan actually had to play her quarterfinal round first Tuesday evening. Morgan made it to the semifinals, and clinched a berth in the state tournament with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Christian County’s Lantana Height.
Morgan then had to wait for well over an hour for an end to the quarterfinal match between Brittney Ketchum, of Fort Campbell, and Madison Cummings, of Madisonvillle. Cummings appeared to be battling hydration issues during the second set of the match, before finally getting the win 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Once Morgan and Cummings took to the court, the Caldwell County netter was in control from the get go, winning the match 6-0, 6-0.
Morgan will take on her teammate Belle Englebright in the final after Englebright cruised by Riley Fort , of Hopkinsville 6-1, 6-0. The loss of a game in the first set by Englebright was her first lost game of the season.
The championship match between the two Lady Tigers will be Wednesday at 5pm.
